Why Marine Canvas?
My name is Rebecca and I've been a sailor for years now. After purchasing a new (to us) sailboat in 2020, we began looking for someone to rework our canvas. It was impossible to find someone to replace our sail cover and bimini in a reasonable time frame at a reasonable cost. So, I sewed it myself. I also discovered that I really enjoyed making canvas for our boat, jerry can covers, hatch covers, new cushions, and more.
Talking with other boaters, I realized that everyone had a similar experience. There just aren't enough places to meet the demand for marine canvas work that today's growing number of boaters need.
We opened Off Season Canvas July 1, 2022 and recieved so much support from Brunswick and the boating community. We're continuing to learn and grow, so we can better serve our local boaters and the many cruisers that come through the area. We've also expanded to fabricating awnings and shade sails to better meet the needs in Brunswick.
In 2024, Glenn joined the OSC Team full time and primarily helped get our new building renovations completed. We moved into our new space at 1400 Albany in November of 2024. While we've still got plenty of work to do, we're up and running full tilt. It's nice to have a little more space and building of our own.
As of January 2025, Glenn has taken over as the Project Manager and is spearheading our scheduling, patterning, and installations. I'll still be at the sewing machine and at the desk, but glad to have more full time help around the shop.
